Questions people ask us
The real questions — including the awkward ones.
Straight answers, in writing.
- Can't I just get a second opinion myself?
You can — and the second surgeon will be excellent, and paid the same way as the first. What you can't easily do alone is search dozens of doctors across several countries, in languages you don't read, check every credential twice, and get it all explained without anyone selling you anything. That's not a second opinion. That's an investigation — and it's what we do.
- Are you doctors?
Our expert panel are senior physicians — but no, Amaranth is not your doctor and never treats you. Think of it this way: you want a brilliant surgeon, and you want a brilliant investigator making sure it's the right surgeon. You don't want them to be the same person.
- How is this different from concierge medicine?
Concierge medicine sells you faster access to its own doctors. We have no doctors to sell — we search the whole world's, and our best advice is sometimes "stay home and do less." No one whose income depends on treating you can say that. We say it all the time.
- Won't my doctor be offended?
Handled well — and we handle it well — no. You'll arrive with smart questions, not accusations; where useful, doctors talk to doctors quietly. Good physicians love an informed patient. And if yours resents one? That told you something worth knowing.
- How do you make money?
From your fee. Full stop. No clinic, lab, or hospital has ever paid us a cent, and none ever will — when partners offer us commissions, we turn them into your discounts. It's the whole point: advice you can trust because there's no one else to serve.
- Can you guarantee I'll be cured?
No — and please walk away from anyone in medicine who says yes. Bodies don't come with guarantees. What we guarantee is the search: the whole world considered, everything checked twice, everything shown to you, and our own experts re-judging our advice a year later — publicly, including our misses. We can't promise biology. We can promise you'll never wonder if there was something better out there.
- I'm not in Europe. Does this work for me?
Perfectly. The search was never local — we work across countries and languages by design, for clients anywhere. Where you live matters for exactly two things: pointing you to the right urgent care if ever needed, and being honest about travel.
- What if it's an emergency?
Call your emergency services — we are not an ambulance and never pretend to be. But know this: the moment anything you share with us looks urgent, we tell you immediately and plainly — go today, here's where — before anything else. Always.
- What if you get it wrong?
You hear it from us before you discover it. We tell you plainly, fix it or refund it, and we're insured for the day we hope never comes — insured since before our first client. How a firm plans for its mistakes tells you more than how it describes its talents.
- Can I leave?
Any day, with everything — your whole story, in a form any doctor can use, free. If we can't keep you by being good, we have no interest in keeping you at all.
If there's something you'd like to ask us before beginning, we welcome it. There is no wrong question here.
